Organisations from all over Slovakia have a unique opportunity to take part in Volunteering Week 2026, a nationwide campaign that connects volunteers with organisations in need of help. Volunteering Week 2026 will take place from 18-24 May 2026 and organisations can register until 10 April 2026.

Each year, Volunteering Week connects organisations, schools, local authorities and the public with people who want to help. It gives organisations the opportunity to reach out to new volunteers, showcase their work and create new partnerships. Civic associations, non-profit organisations, schools, leisure centres, libraries, museums, social service centres, municipalities and other institutions can get involved.
Volunteering Week 2026 also coincides with the International Year of Volunteering. This is why this year's celebration will even more strongly emphasise the importance of active citizenship, solidarity and the real impact of volunteering on communities.
„Volunteering Week gives organisations the opportunity to try out working with volunteers or to expand it. During the campaign, many organisations have not only received help for a specific activity, but also people who have decided to stay for the long term. It is also an opportunity for the public to experience volunteering for themselves and to find out where they feel useful,“ says Petra Gerhartová, chairwoman of the Prešov Volunteer Centre, which organises the Week of Volunteering in the Prešov Region.
Organisations can register at www.tyzdendobrovolnictva.sk and create unlimited volunteering opportunities. Volunteers will be able to choose their activities from 20 April 2026.
Link to the I Love My City - I Love My Region initiative
This year, the Week of Volunteering in the Prešov Region is linked with the I Love My City - I Love My Region initiative. Cities had the opportunity to participate in this initiative until 28 February 2026.
Activities within the I Love My City - I Love My Region festival will take place over two weeks, one of which coincides with Volunteering Week. This means that in many cities, community and volunteering activities will run in parallel and reinforce each other.
For cities that have joined I Love My City - I Love My Region, there is a natural space to link their community activities with Volunteer Week and reach out to the wider public. At the same time, organisations in these cities can register for Volunteer Week and gain additional support, promotion and volunteers.

Support for the organisations involved
The Prešov Volunteer Centre, as the regional organiser of the campaign, provides methodological and communication support to the participating organisations. After registration, organisations will receive guidelines on how to prepare activities, tips on working with volunteers and recommendations on how to create a pleasant and professional environment for short-term volunteering.
For all registered organisations in the Prešov region, there will also be an online training on the management of one-off volunteering opportunities, where they will learn details on the further procedure and implementation of activities.
The Week of Volunteering is organised across Slovakia by individual regional volunteer centres: Bratislava Volunteer Centre, Banská Bystrica Volunteer Centre, Nitra Volunteer Centre
Volunteering, Prešov Volunteer Centre, Volunteer Centre of the Trnava Region, Trenčín Volunteer Centre and Žilina Volunteer Centre in cooperation with the Platform of Volunteer Centres and Organisations.
